Data Server

This website provides access to near real time global HYCOM + NCODA based ocean prediction system output. The ocean prediction system runs daily at the Navy DoD Supercomputing Resource Center. Upon completion, these data are remotely copied to our local HYCOM servers for additional processing. Daily data is typically accessible within 48-hrs of the initial runtime. This website also provides access to several other global and regional datasets (see below). The data are in NetCDF format and can be accessed using OPeNDAP enabled clients. Click here for a list of pre-opackaged OPeNDAP enabled clients. Live Access Server (LAS) is also available and can be used for quick online visualization and downloads of data in several formats . OPeNDAP URL's for all datasets are available from the HYCOM THREDDS Catalog.

Access Methods

THREDDS Access
Using OPeNDAP enabled clients (e.g., Ferret, NCO, MATLAB, etc.) data can by quickly and efficiently loaded into your application. Data is streamed directly from our servers to your client via OPeNDAP without downloading individual data files. OPeNDAP URL's for supported data are listed above.

OPeNDAP Access, HTTP Access or FTP Access
Direct access to individual data files is also available using any web browser or FTP client.

Live Access Server (LAS)
LAS can be used for quick online visualization and downloads of data in several formats (see the LAS home page for more information). Note: This access method is a very experimental and is being provided to our users as is. We do not guarantee availability, so please use at your own risk.
